Great hotel, easy tube to O2

Great vibe here from the second you walk in. Literally across the road from tube station, only 1 stop to North Greenwich for O2 Arena. Room well soundproofed (no traffic noise), though with window open might be a fair bit. Good buffet breakfast and very friendly helpful staff. Clean compact rooms, very comfortable bed, good shower.

Friendly staff, inviting and welcoming… with one annoying factor!

The staff are what ‘make’ this hotel. ALL staff are very friendly and helpful, William in particular at the reception desk. The entire hotel is clean and tidy, the whole ‘vibe’ being relaxed and chilled. Our double room was very basic, there are no draws and the ‘wardrobe’ is a bit of wasted space (could do with a couple more shelves in it). However, the room was very comfortable, very clean, and the bathroom very adequate. Breakfast was exceptional, but you need to time it right as when the hotel is busy it can get quite cramped in the buffet area! The quality of the breakfast food was very good, I sampled most things during our 2 night stay and enjoyed every item, especially the cooked breakfast, warm rolls, ham and yoghurts. If there is one downside to the hotel, it is that non-residents (students?) with their open laptops are allowed to take up as much room as they like, for as long as they like, in the comfortable seating area in the bar/restaurant/reception area without so much as paying for a drink (usually just sitting with a glass of the free water). This is very annoying in the evenings as residents that have paid hundreds for their weekend stay either can’t get a seat or are relegated to the more uncomfortable chairs and tables. In my opinion, there should be a cut-off time in the evening for non-residents that are only there to ‘work’. The location of the hotel is ideal, being only one stop on the tube from the O2, the tube (and bus station) being directly across the road. Would I stay here again? 100% I would…. but I would like to see a curfew for non residents that are only there for the free water and electricity!

Expect sleepiness night with the noise

Room was uncomfortable, only two pillows on the bed. Cheap furnishings. These things I could oversee however the noise next to the underground and DLR was noisy over a 24 hour basis. I was on the 3rd floor and my friend was on the top floor and she also had the same issue. Didn’t sleep at all. I asked reception for earplugs- the hotel didn’t have any which is a bit silly. Should be standard. I asked to move to a quieter room- they had none available. I requested a “quiet room” on my booking. The whole experience was uncomfortable.

Stayed overnight to see the Michael McIntrye gig at the O2. Great comfortable room, some of the most modern I have seen at an Ibis hotel. There were a few hiccups at check-in- there seems to be at least three devices which the staff had to use. However, the staff are absolutely amazing, especially the Assistant GM, Sei ha who resolved some issues. The best Ibis hotel I have stayed in so far. I will be back 😀
